IKEA is one of the most widely recognised brands in the world. The concept of IKEA is best illustrated by its vision: “IKEA’s vision is the creation of better conditions of daily life for many people. Our business idea is to offer a wide assortment of functional and well designed household articles at such low prices so that the biggest number of people can afford them."
In 2013 IKEA decided to take a gift card into another “dimension”, namely to a form of a personalised present. On its website, it wanted its customers to be able to design an original, globally unique IKEA gift card. The individual characteristics of the card were to be expressed by customers using their own graphic elements or utilising designs from a vast IKEA graphics library and by adding a text.
AC Solutions team were chosen for the project since they already had ExpressCards – their own very advanced tool – that would meet the expectation.
Argo Card Sp. z o.o. was expected by the investor to fulfil its request by creating an application that would not only satisfy its business objectives but also fully administer the whole process: from accepting an order and processing a payment, through production, personalisation and packing the gift card, to delivering it directly to a Customer. The two-level method of activating the card by a Customer who received it was an important part of the process.
Once the application, internal procedures, methods of reporting and settlements with IKEA had been prepared a year of Beta tests followed when a few hundred individual, fully functional IKEA gift cards were issued.
The project executed by Argo Card was highly appreciated by the Investor.
